CrossFit is a fitness regimen that involves performing functional and constantly varied movements at high intensity. These “functional” movements are actions that you perform in your day-to-day life like lifting objects, squatting, jumping, or stretching. A CrossFit workout takes these everyday movements and turns them into a workout by adding higher weights, faster movements, or longer distances. The idea is to increase the overall power necessary to perform these movements by building muscle and strength, improving flexibility, and increasing stamina.
CrossFit is designed to fit everyone’s ability level and the process is simple: each day, there will be a prescribed workout of the day (WOD) with modifications for ability level. Everyone does the same workout, modifying pieces of it to fit their individual needs. The goal here is to get a great, high-intensity workout combined with function so that it has practical benefits within your everyday life. You might be lifting a bar in a CrossFit workout, but the real purpose is to easily lift your child or to bring all the groceries in, in a single trip. What is special about this program?
Here at Desert Devil CrossFit, we focus on improving the quality of life of each member of our gym family by having crafted a positive and empowering, supportive community, and helping them feel good in their bodies. Jeremy and Juliet, the two owners, have shared 45 years of experience in developing the human body, ranging from Olympic lifting to massage therapy, to CrossFit. Using this, the two of them have been helping people get out of pain and overcome their old injuries since the opening of this gym in 2015. Jeremy and Juliet have taken that goal, to get people out of pain and improve the quality of their lives, and made it their mission. Every coach is trained to a level in which they can best help our members overcome their limitations, both physical and mental. In that process, the community of Desert Devil CrossFit changes the whole gym experience for the better.
