Tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a mom of two bundles of joy… Julian, 13 and Jordan 10. I work at the children’s advocacy center here in town as a social worker. And when I’m not chauffeuring my children from activity to activity or at work, I play soccer with the Mesilla Valley Soccer League. But the older I get the more I realize it’s getting close to that time to hang up my cleats L… maybe a few seasons left.
How long have you been with us at DDCF and what made you walk in these doors?
I’ve been a member of DDCF for about a year and a half and I was hooked day 1! I was doing just weight training before and was getting bored with the same weekly cycle of workouts so it was time to try something new.
Do you remember your first workout and how you felt after?
I do not remember my first workout but I do remember feeling like I had a whole lot to learn… and I still do! Which is one reason why I love CrossFit so much, always something to work on and get better at. No room to get bored!
If you could design the perfect workout for yourself what would it be?
Gotta say I’m a fan of the rower. I also like cardio type workouts so throw some running in there. And recently I FINALLY got some kipping pullups down so I’d be down for some of that too.
What animal best represents you today?
I’d be whatever animal is forgetful, always late, and perpetually hungry. Not sure which animal that is, but I’m such a delight to the 5:30pm class, right Jeremy. One of these days I’ll get it together.
If you could pick the perfect song to listen during the best workout of your life what would it be?
I love me some old school gangster rap! Some Ice Cube, Easy E, Snoop, Warren G…. Best way to get down in a workout!
What is your favorite movement or Olympic lift? Least favorite?
Favorite would be back squats… what girl doesn’t like good old fashioned squats. My least favorite movement is the squat snatch… my balance sucks as it is without weight… so yeah needless to say I am not a fan.
What is one fun fact that we may not know about you?
Insert the “I don’t know” girl emoji here.
Outside of Crossfit what is one of your favorite hobbies or things to do?
Well… Soccer of course. I play on Thursdays and Sundays so that keeps me busy. But mostly I enjoy just being with my kids. They both are busy with sports so I enjoy watching and cheering them on. Every now and again, when I’m feeling kinda wild and crazy, I’ll go out but it’s not too often. I can’t hang like I used to.
What is your proudest Crossfit moment?
My proudest CrossFit moment was when team CODE BROWN successfully finished 8 workouts in less than 24 hours at the Autumn Games in Albuquerque. Just surviving that much CrossFit in 1 weekend was an accomplishment in my book. But recently when I did my first pullup… gotta say I was proud!
Since I recently accomplished my goal of some pullups, new goal would be to finally get my flippen toes to touch the flippen bar in toes to bar. I’m like so close but just doesn’t seem to happen lol. I’ll get there with the coaches help! But I’m so grateful to have found such an awesome group of people who have not only become my workout partners daily, but also my friends! Can’t wait to see what 2020 has in store for us all!
