December 2019 Member of the Month Kristin Faust.
Tell us a little about yourself?
I work from home negotiating contracts for Humana Health Insurance, wife to Nick, and mother of 2 beautiful girls Stailey and Sloan. I am from Houston, Texas and moved to the LC in 1992. I went to Lynn Middle School and Onate High School. I got a real introduction into the thug life. Do not mess with me.
How long have you been with us at DDCF and what made you walk in these doors?
I started at DDCF in February of 2019 after my dear friend Jen convinced me to come join her and endure the torture…. I mean fun of CrossFit.
Do you remember your first workout and how you felt after?
I have no idea what my first workout was. I block out all the workouts purely as a survival mechanism. I can’t even remember what we did on Monday.
If you could design the perfect workout for yourself what would it be?
Besides sleeping my perfect workout would include thrusters, wall balls, and rowing.
What animal best represents you today?
A raccoon. I am very curious and ask lots of questions. Just ask Nat and Kelsey.
If you could pick the perfect song to listen during the best workout of your life what would it be?
Hmmm I’m struggling with this one…I think any music that makes me forget what I’m doing. Can’t pick a certain song, but anything 90s or early 2000s rock. Please just no Beyonce…..sorry Beyonce fans.
What is your favorite movement or Olympic lift? least favorite?
I enjoy front and back squats. I very much dislike overhead movements, but shock myself and somehow do them. My least favorite movement is burpee box jumps. I have a healthy fear of the box, which I am slowly but surely conquering.
What is one fun fact that we may not know about you?
I will eat an entire dusty ginger bread house the whole month of December and probably into January if there is any left, and any Chalas cakes that Jen leaves at my house.
Clearly I have a problem.
Outside of Crossfit what is one of your favorite hobbies or things to do?
I love to ski, drink wine, “try” to play tennis, and enjoy the company of my friends and family.
What is your proudest Crossfit moment?
Rxing my first open workout 20.2. It was 35# dumbbell thrusters, double unders, and TTB. I cried, Jen cried, we all cried. It was beautiful. I learned I can do really hard things if I just have the courage to try. Thank you coaches for reminding me of that!
Free write: (this is a place where you can thank people or tell a little more about your journey or what you would like to accomplish in the future)
Thanks to my friend Jen for nagging me to go, to Morgen for being an inspirational strength beast, my nearest and dearest best of friend Whitney for joining me on this crazy ride while pregnant and with a torn ACL. And thank you to each person I’ve met at DDCF. You have all taught me so much not only about CrossFit, but life in general, and create such a wonderful community. Thank you for sharing this journey. But most of all the amazing coaches Kelsey, Jessica, Nat, Julie, and Jeremy for pushing me, encouraging me, and knowing my ability before I do. And of course Connie, my only goal is to keep up with you!
