Thanks to everyone who came in for FREE FRIDAY, I bet nobody wants to play cards again…. Yikes. But just to remind you all, scaling and modification is everything.
To start our week off right we are having a hang squat snatch focus day. We will first find a heavy single hang squat snatch, looking to build in weight but also moving well. Then we will move into “High Heels” which is an AMRAP 9 of hang squat snatches and double unders. Unlike the strength piece beforehand we are looking to move light weight fast. For Tuesdays workout we are just working on “The Good Life” This little metcon is 3 rounds of 500m row and box jumps. We are shooting for less than 15 minutes on this one. “Chest Hair” comes in on Wednesday but not before we build to a heavy 3 rep thruster. With thrusters, running and chest to bar pullups, “Chest hair” is going to get spicy, but sounds fun! Thursday brings a trip to the “Pharmacy” to pick up a prescription of walking lunges, abmat situps and dumbbell power cleans all wrapped up in a 5 round workout. Friday we finish off with “Rush Hour” which is every 4:00 X 5 rounds which you’ll complete cals on the bike, lateral barbell burpees and power snatches shooting for at least 90 seconds of rest before the next round starts. Saturdays workout is another long one with a time cap of 30 minutes. In teams of 3 we will complete “Money Bags” which includes wreck bag runs, box jump overs, clean and jerks and rope climbs.
FROM COMPTRAIN MINDSET
“If people knew how hard I worked to achieve my mastery, it wouldn’t seem so wonderful after all.” – Michelangelo
From a man who is recognized as one of the greatest artists of all time.
There’s the intoxicating myth in our society that there is such a thing as natural, born talent. An “anointed” factor that leads to such heights of achievement.
Yet here he is, Michelangelo himself, expressing his backbone to success.
It’s easy to dismiss achievements to factors we can’t control. To say history is by chance. It’s far harder, to admit that it’s another level of true grit and unrelenting effort. To realize that the great Michaelangelo simply worked his ass off.
When we recognize through his very own admission that his success was found through his unyielding desire to work through adversity after adversity… we too, can see our potential in whatever we choose to pursue.
Greatness is not by chance. It is by choice.
We just need to work for it.
