Jen has been with us for just a couple of months but has made some pretty significant improvements since day one. One of the first things you will notice about her is she ALWAYS shows up with a smile on her face and a truck load of kids in tow whether it is for the 8:35 or 12 :05 class 🙂
Each day Jen is working to improve on whatever she can and has a super positive outlook on her future goals. She works hard every day and is a great roll model for her girls as well as friends. Her kiddos are also part of our CrossFit Kids class and they work just as hard and have just as much fun as their mom! We are so happy to have this crew with us! They are another great example of showing how a healthy lifestyle is a family affair here at DDCF!
Tell us a little about yourself?
I am a stay-at-home mom to 4 awesome girls, 3 my own and 1 super cool bonus kid. Before beginning my lucrative career as a domestic engineer I worked as a nurse
How long have you been with us at DDCF and what made you walk in these doors?
I started at DDCF in February after winning 2 squares at Morgen and Jeff’s super bowel party. I paid for my first month with my winnings. Yay for that awful game! Morgen kept mentioning how much fun CF was and invited me to friend Friday. I was also seeing how much fun my girls were having at CF kids, and decided to give it a try.
Do you remember your first workout and how you felt after?
My first workout was a team workout with wall balls, rowing, ab matt, and box jumps. I felt great after and super pumped. The next day, not so much. Getting dressed has never been so challenging.
If you could design the perfect workout for yourself what would it be?
My perfect workout would be a workout that included Push Jerks and box Jumps. There is something about the Push Jerks that I find really fun, and I’m just really happy I can do box jumps.
What animal best represents you today?
If you could pick the perfect song to listen during the best workout of your life what would it be?
So hard! Ulysses by Franz Ferdinand, or anything by Incubus or Kings of Leon.
What is your favorite movement or Olympic lift? least favorite
My favorite are push jerks. My least favorite are overhead squats!
What is one fun fact that we may not know about you?
I am really good at starting IV’s and blood draws. I once drew blood out of a patient’s index fingers.
Outside of CrossFit what is one of your favorite hobbies or things to do?
I love to snowboard with my husband and ride horses with my girls.
What is your proudest CrossFit moment?
My proudest CF moment was doing one of the open workouts with Jeremy and Connie pushing, coaching, and encouraging me during (I think) the squat cleans where we had to add weight with each round. That was super hard and I timed out, but I finished when I didn’t think I was going to.
My favorite part of DDCF are the people and atmosphere. Everyone has been super welcoming and encouraging. Thank you to Julie, Kelsey, and Jessica for showing me all the moves about a dozen times each and answering my 101 questions prior to every workout. You guys are amazing coaches!
To everyone else I think you are all amazing and I am awe of all of your strength and ability!
