For this week’s overview of January 28th through February 2nd 2019, we start Monday off trying to become unsinkable through the use of our “Life Jacket” with three 5 minute AMRAPs consisting on Rowing, Thrusters, Chest to Bar Pullups, Toes to Bar and Pullups. On Tuesday try not to get a “Hangnail” when working through this AMRAP of Dumbbell Hang Clean and Jerks, Assault Bike, Lateral Barbell Burpees and Deadlifts. Wednesday brings a nice strength session consisting of Tempo Pausing Back Squats. Then you’ll want to acquire a rope and Dumbbells for the “After Party” to complete Front Squats and Dubz. Then Thursday we will see another strength session of building to a heavy Hang Power Snatch + Power Snatch complex. Then continuing with the Snatch focus we are completing a Hero workout called “Randy” 75 Power Snatches for time. Our “Why” today lies outside ourselves, as we are honoring Randy Simmons. Randal D. Simmons was killed in the line of duty on Feb. 7, 2008. The 51-year-old was a 27-year veteran of the Los Angeles Police Department and a member of the SWAT team. In addition to his service as an officer, Simmons often dedicated his free time to community outreach for at-risk and underprivileged youth. Watch a short video on Randy and his legacy here. On the first Friday of every month, we open up the gym for “Free Class Friday.” This is an opportunity for members to bring in friends with no CrossFit experience. This workout called “Wet Floor” and is a two person team working to complete Wallballs, AbMat Sit-ups, Calorie Row and Burpee Box Jumps. Finishing the week out on Saturday and keeping it “Over Easy” look forward to Assault Bike, Chest to Bar Pull-ups, Overhead Squats and Power Clean & Jerks.
From CompTrain Mindset:
“Shallow people believe in luck and circumstance. Strong people believe in cause and effect” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
We have a choice – to believe that life is happening to us, or that we are fully in control. That life is a direct reflection of the choices that we make. That the good, bag, ugly, and everything in between is a direct result of our actions.
We can stand by, and wait for life to happen to us. Or we can choose to believe that we have a say in our own story, that we are the writers of our script, that we have complete control over what happens next.
Ask ourselves – at the end of the day, are we going to allow our life to be dictated to us by chance, or by choice?
