One of my favorite things about CrossFit is how adaptable it is to any skill level. I started CrossFit the week before I found out I was pregnant with my second child. I had been working out prior to the move, but not much can prepare you for the lifting, gymnastics, cardio and overall muscle use of CrossFit.
I fell in love with the sport the first week and was nervous to tell my coaches that I was pregnant in fear that I would be told to find something less strenuous. During the talk, they encouraged me to stay and found numerous exercises I could do that worked the same muscles as my fellow athlete without putting the baby in danger. I was able to work out the morning my water broke at 39 weeks.
One day after the baby was six weeks old I returned to the gym, terrified that I had lost all my strength. Rest assured I felt strong from 39 weeks of presses, hang cleans and box pushups. There are still things I am scaling as I work on balance and dealing with baby weight, but I am so excited to see what my body can do. My best advice if you are scared is to just try it, you will be amazed at what your body can do! So a giant thank you to my Desert Devil CrossFit family for working with me over the last 10 months!
