Ok so most of you know I was traveling this weekend so our Meal Prep Monday is a day late.
Sorry. But I have some important information I want/need to share with you all.
So having this trip come up with me being pretty solid on point with my nutrition and finally making progress, I was really stressing out about how I was going to maintain. REALLY STRESSING!
So my genius husband suggested I look for a meal prep service. (reasons like this is why I don’t kill him) 😛
So I did. I found a place called Foodie Fit meal prep, and they delivered. They had great options, you could pick your protein, veggies and carbs or you could pick predesigned meals. I opted for the second choice. The first option gave me too many choices and it would’ve taken me forever. They also gave you the choice of the “lean” meal or the “bulk” meal depending on your macro needs. I ordered breakfast and lunch for Jer and I for each day we would be gone leaving only dinner for me to worry about eating out.
So our food got delivered Thursday evening when we got there. I put them in the little fridge in the hotel room. Which I found out once we got there that we stayed in a hotel that had NO MICROWAVES ON THE PROPERTY! So Friday morning we had cold eggs, sausage and breakfast rice. It was delicious even cold. So from there I was pretty stoked. All the meals were great even cold. I can just imagine how good they would have been nice and warm.
Ok, now for the struggle. Thursday night when my brother and sister in-law got there we headed over to Margaritaville. As I sat there looking at the menu I was petrified! OMG I was having an internal freak out of how I was gonna do this. It took me a long time of looking and internal dialog to finally find something on the menu I felt good about ordering. I found some chicken kabob with a side of rice. I had that and it was great. Also had a margarita on the rocks. So I logged all my food for the day and was completely within my daily goals. I managed to get through this trip and still stay on course.
Saturday was a day for a little laxity at dinner we were celebrating my brothers anniversary at Buca di Peppo’s. If you don’t know what that is, it’s an Italian restaurant that serves meals family style. Big ass bowls of everything. Each couple ordered an entree and we all went to town. There were 2 different types of pasta, a pizza and a chopped salad and to make sure we had protein I ordered the prosciutto stuffed chicken breast. I had a nice serving of chopped salad, ½ of those chicken breast and a spoonful of each one of those pastas. Keeping portions in mind it was pretty easy to do. I also had 1 piece of cheesy garlic bread which was divine and Jer and I shared a piece of cake. I also had some sangria and champagne, and I enjoyed every bite. No guilt no stress. I had just a bit of what I wanted keeping balance in mind.
There was no scale in my life for 3 days and Monday morning I was about 2 pounds over what I was Thursday before we left. Success! If anyone knows there can be that much change from morning to night on a normal day.
Soooo my peeps, I hope this helps. You can maintain stability with a bit of planning ahead without carrying around an ice chest full of food. If you can’t find a meal prep place just do a little searching of the area you are in so you can plan your meal stops. Keep protein bars and your shakers if you’d like. (that’s what Jer did). Keep your choices simple, protein, carb and fat and make sure you get your veggies! If you have any other questions on success while traveling especially now during summer hit me up!
To another week of happy healthy eating!
