Good Afternoon Boys and Girls 🙂
With the excitement of The Open upon us, many of you are on the fence whether or not you should register.
Well OF COURSE YOU SHOULD!!!!! Why you may ask????? Well let me tell you why. It is not about “being ready” or being “good enough”. But “I can’t even do pull ups”,” I don’t have double unders” etc. etc….. Not a valid point cuz guess what??? It is all scaleable just like the WOD’S we do daily. It is about measuring and observing our growth. Greg Glassman’s theory on fitness comes from a scientific thought process. Our fitness needs to be observable, measurable and repeatable. We are in the beginning of the year, some of you are just starting with us and some of you have been with us since our beginning. All of you are with us and because you want change, you want more out of your life, your health, and your fitness. The open is the best way to set your marker for the year of where you can improve.
Every year Dave Castro and his crew comes up with incredible ways to test our work capacity. Sometimes that is with new movements, sometimes it is with stuff we have done before. Work capacity, part of the definition of fitness. How much can you do in a specific amount of time? How hard can you work for how long? And when you think you just can’t do anymore, your gym, your friends are there to carry you on to the finish. The growing pains, the part of being better every day, mentally, physically and emotionally. This is where we start guys. This is the litmus test for our training for the year. Lets spend the next 5 weekends showing ourselves and our partners in crime just what we are made of. You will surprise yourself I guarantee it. It’s some of the toughest fun you will ever have. Each week we usually find somewhere to gather for lunch and enjoy re-capping the awesome work we just did and a few adult beverages if you so choose and the last week will be BBQ here at our gym.
